Business Climate
Live & work in a great location.

The positive business climate of Somerset County stems from its genuine appreciation of the vital role played by industry in the economy. Local government officials are readily accessible to hear and address the needs of industry as reflected in the ability and willingness of the County Commissioners to consider industry exemption from all county taxes for one year at a time for a period of up to ten years. Taxes are reasonable and stable and the zoning and permitting process is uncomplicated.

Capital investment project financing can be arranged through a number of sources. These include traditional methods such as Industrial Development Revenue Bonds and the SBA Subordinated Debenture Program, of course, but in addition, both Somerset County and the Town of Princess Anne have their own unique financial assistance programs for new and expanding industry.

The Economic Development Commission is also knowledgeable of and familiar with other financing programs designed to assist industry. These include the nine State administered financing programs such as the Maryland Industrial Land Act and Maryland Industrial and Commercial Revitalization Fund and Federal programs such as Urban Development Action Grants (UDAGs). With an appreciation for the view from industry's side of the desk, Somerset County is ready and able to work with you to assemble an appropriate and affordable financial package.
