Teackle Mansion, Princess AnneThe numerous historic homes, churches, and landmarks give testimony to the past and invite exploration. The rivers, marshes, and islands of the area and of course, the magnificent Chesapeake Bay have supported traditions of fishing, hunting, and sailing for over 300 years.

Just a short drive from Somerset lies the sparkling Atlantic Seashore where Assateague Island beckons visitors to swim, comb the beach, or deep sea fish. Ocean City offers all the attractions of a seaside resort. Concerts, name entertainers, and cultural events can be found at the local convention centers and college campuses.

Included in these leisure pursuits are the comforts of urban facilities. A general hospital and public health services are available in the County, the largest acute care hospital on Delmarva Peninsula is minutes away.

Life on the Eastern Shore is affordable. The region's consumer cost of living is approximately 20% less than metropolitan areas on the East Coast and falls approximately 18% below the average for U.S. metropolitan areas.
